We are big split pea soup fans here, but I had a bag of frozen peas so I did a little Googling and found this awesome recipe over at Judy's Kitchen!! Everyone loved it, from my husband to my 8 month old. It's healthy too!

Holiday Yummies!
These are sure not to last long with my family around! I plan on having a batch out whenever we have company over during the holidays. These were super easy to make, yet show that you put forth some effort for your guests. Delicious!

Why Didn't I Think of That?
I'm a big fan of do-it-yourself cooking. I think we as Americans have gotten so spoiled by the pre-packaged, add water and stir mixes available to us in our grocery stores, that we forget that many foods are quite simple to make ourselves. Not only are they simple, but they are usually much cheaper and free of all the yucky additives and preservatives found in so many processed foods. Cheap, easy, and yummy-- a win-win-win!
I stumbled across this easy recipe for homemade brownie mix at GoodCheapEats. The author suggests making up several batches and storing. Put it in a pretty jar, tie on a ribbon and instructions and you've got a great homemade gift!

Fun Kids Gift: Muffin-Tin Crayons
Best idea ever!! My toddler is going to flip over these! I think the muffin cup shapes are cute (kinda remind me of colorful Reese's cups), but my husband also suggested using different shaped cookie cutters. I'm off to hunt for broken crayons....

Celebrating a Simple Christmas: Quick & Frugal Angel Ornament
Could this idea be any easier?? I should have made these with my 2 year old this year. We (meaning I) am STILL trying to finish up our current project. I'm keeping this in mind for next year and if/when I ever go back to teaching Kindergarten or Preschool . If you're looking for an easy, creative homemade ornament, check this out:

Intro
I've blogged before, but never kept up with it and ended up deleting my blogs after months (years) of neglect. Lately, I've been wanting a spot to collect and organize all the details of my life as a mother, wife, homemaker, cook, gardener, horseback rider, etc. This blog will likely consist of recipes found for last minute dinners, links to sites I love, and ruminations from my cluttered mind. If you are reading...thank you. I don't expect readers, but welcome any and all who come. Perhaps one day this blog will take on more structure, but for now, it will be an amalgamation of my many interests :)
